Sean Ackerman grew up in Illinois and attended film school at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. His first feature, the no-budget, Straight Line, premiered at the 2005 South By Southwest Film Festival. Sean loves filming natural landscapes, or people in natural landscapes, or almost anything at magic hour. He also loves the challenges and freedom that low-, micro-, or no-budget filmmaking affords him. Although he hopes to make a couple more films after The Diary of Preston Plummer, the majority of his working life is happily dedicated to practicing medicine. He received his M.D. from the University of Washington in 2010. He thanks his friends, family, and fellow filmmakers for all their amazing support.
